It’s the ultimate one and done system. Register for PayPal and you’ll enter your address and bank details once – and once only – then checking out can be a one-click dream. Thousands of retailers, both big and small, accept this payment method – from marketplace notonthehightstreet, to appliance giant AO and ethical department store Wearth.
Most credit card point schemes are still eligible when used through PayPal, but rewards schemes may differ, so refer to your card provider for details. PayPal also has Buyer Protection* that helps you secure a refund if your products arrive damaged, faulty or not as described.
Plus, download the app or log in to your account online and you’ll get an overview of your Christmas shopping expenditure, so you can be extra savvy about your spending.
Here’s how you can try it for yourself:
1 Choose your account type and enter your details
There are two different PayPal account types: personal and business. Select the account type that’s best for you, then enter your personal profile information. We recommend that you don’t use the same password for any other site (best practise for any account, financial or not), and create one that’s as random as possible.
2 Link PayPal to your bank, debit or credit card
You can choose to link PayPal to as many of your bank accounts, debit or credit cards as you wish. Once you’ve set up your profile and account, PayPal will prompt you to add a payment method. Click the ‘Get Started’ button and you’ll be directed to a short form for entering your desired bank account or card. You’ll need your bank or card number, card expiry date, three-digit CSC number, and your billing address. You’ll then receive a confirmation email from PayPal. Reply to this and you’re good to go. Ready, set, shop.
